The Port of Blyth is a modern statutory Trust Port, generating revenue of £22m during 2020.
The Port provides a first-class handling service specialising in the energy, project cargo, container, dry bulk and break-bulk sectors. Heavy lift experience along with a range of value-added services compliment high quality warehousing and engineering workshops.
The Role
Applications are invited from individuals with the relevant deck hand experience & certification to fill the position of Marine Operative/Second Person.
The Marine Operative/Second Person is responsible to the Harbour Master and will assist the Marine Supervisor in the safe and efficient management and maintenance of all Port owned marine craft.
Due to the nature of our business, you will need to be flexible with a can-do attitude. The following experience is desirable but not essential: –
- Tug experience
- Marine engineering/fitter experience
- Hydrographic surveying
- Plough dredging/bed levelling
The post will be part of a 3-person rota working a 365 day which includes weekend and public holiday working. This is predominantly a day shift position; however, you will be required to be on call during night and weekends when on rota.
