Providing opportunities for offshore energy related growth, jobs and investment in Blyth
Port of Blyth plays a key role in Energy Central, a unique partnership with Northumberland County Council, the council’s development arm Advance Northumberland and Offshore Energy Renewable Catapult, providing the perfect environment for inward investment into Blyth from the offshore and renewable energy sector.
The combination of the port’s sector experience and a mature on-site supply chain with Advance Northumberland’s land development project support alongside the ORE Catapult’s world leading test facilities make Blyth a highly desirable proposition for companies operating and growing in offshore renewables.
At the heart of the partnership is the 200HA Northumberland Energy Park development site on the north side of the estuary. Featuring direct quayside access, the site is divided into three development phases with the first of those benefitting from a £35m redevelopment programme (due for completion in 2021) to remediate the land and install a heavy lift quay. These works will ensure that the site is one of the best prepared, investment ready quayside development sites on the UK’s east coast. For more information visit: www.energycentraluk.co.uk.
