The Port of Blyth has thrown down the challenge to all amateur photographers in the region in launching its annual photo competition for 2009. The winner will again receive a high specification digital camera to be drawn from all entries received depicting Port of Blyth scenes received by the end of the year. Short listed entries will also be displayed on the Port website which was re-launched in 2008 to include a host of community focussed features together with detailed information on the Port and its activities.
If 2008 is anything to go by the standard will be again of an exceptional quality and after difficult and lengthy deliberations the lucky winner for last year was Derek “Dodge” Collins with his excellent shot of a sunrise over the East Pier.
Derek is pictured receiving his prize from Paul Galagher, Port of Blyth’s Personnel & Safety Manager, and all entries can be viewed at www.portofblyth.co.uk in the photo galleries.
Happy snapping!
