Engineering company TSG Marine and Port of Blyth have announced a partnership that will see the high tech marine and offshore support business create a base for their services at the Port.
The firm, which provides innovative engineering solutions to the oil & gas, marine and renewables industries, has been looking for a waterside base to support its expansion plans in the North East. Port of Blyth was selected as the ideal location to develop the specialist support services TSG Marine offer to vessels operating in the North Sea and beyond.
When asked about the drivers behind the move to Blyth, the company were bullish about the growth of the Port as a North East offshore supply base, the development of the offering and the benefits of the trust port continuing to reinvest profits in facilities and skills.
Managing Director of TSG Marine, Allan Syme said: “The North East currently has a real opportunity to establish itself as a key cost effective player in terms of specialist port facilities. At TSG Marine we recognise that the best way to realise that opportunity is to partner with the local infrastructure which offers access to a number of high quality fabricators and other specialist support companies.”
The Port, having reported record financial figures earlier this year driven largely by a surge in offshore related activities, are delighted to welcome one of the North East’s fastest growing firms in the offshore supply chain.
Martin Lawlor, Chief Executive of Port of Blyth, said: “Welcoming a company as in-demand as TSG Marine to the Port of Blyth – and to our Wimbourne Quay terminal in particular – is another great milestone in our development as an offshore energy supply base. The infrastructure, partnerships and environment we’re building here is a formula for growth and innovation in the offshore sector.”
