Self Employed Assessor – Port Operative Apprenticeship

Due to expanding activities across the UK, Port Training Services (PTS) are looking for new assessors to join PTS to work within our apprenticeship delivery team.  PTS, training division of the Port of Blyth, are a specialist training provider delivering fully accredited, industry recognised qualifications for companies and individuals serving the Port & Marine, Warehousing & Logistics, Heavy Industry, Subsea and Offshore Energy sectors.

Job Description:

Post: Self Employed Assessor – Port Operative Apprenticeship

Department : Port Training Services

Location : Home based. Ideally living in the South of England. Other UK locations would be considered.

Responsible to : Business Manager

Job Purpose:

To deliver and develop the PTS apprenticeship programmes with our clients across the UK.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Actively deliver training programmes onsite at PTS premises in Blyth and offsite at client premises.
  • Ensure the correct equipment, personnel and facilities are available for each programme, and are always maintained to the highest standard.
  • Assist in managing relationships with external accrediting bodies.
  • Ensure H&S is always maintained to the highest level.
  • Work to continuously improve the services of PTS.
  • Work closely with the management team to develop and introduce new products as required.
  • Assist in maintaining and achieving industry accreditations.
  • Provide a high-quality service to all customers.
  • Able to maintain relationships with external/internal customers and suppliers.
  • Work effectively with the PTS administration team to ensure all programme administration is managed effectively and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL to the role:

  • Operational Port experience
  • Proven track record of apprenticeship assessment.
  • Relevant Instructor/assessor Qualifications (e.g. D32, D33, A1, TAQA, Level 3, 4, or 5 in Education & Training)
  • Full DBS check (one will be provided if you don’t have one)
  • Travel and overnight stays across the UK (when required)
  • Full Driving License

DESIRABLE to the role:

  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • NPORS qualified instructor
