Port of Blyth is heading for Decom Offshore in Aberdeen on 29th May 2019.
At the event the Port will be showcasing both the potential of its fully permitted decommissioning facility and our extensive experience of the offshore energy sector.
Fully licenced to a capacity of 50,000 tonnes per annum, the 2.3 hectare facility benefits from direct access to heavy duty quays of over 9m draft, an adjacent rail link and a range of handling equipment including port cranage of over 100 tonnes.
Carefully selected and experienced heavy lift partners can provide cranes of up to 500 tonnes capacity and a fleet of SPMTs.
Port of Blyth is also able to offer a range of supporting services such as lift planning with a wealth of experience in the offshore energy sector across the workforce and a well developed supply chain including specialist fabrication, vessel coded welding and lifting and rigging services.
Already known as one of the UK’s leading offshore energy support bases and home to some of the world’s leading offshore energy engineering and subsea companies, the Port worked closely with the Environment Agency to succeed with a decom licence application and is now readying a site suitable for decommissioning at its Battleship Wharf terminal.
The designated 2.3ha decom site within the terminal is licensed to handle up to 50,000 tonnes of offshore energy materials per year with the Port likely to focus on small to medium sized projects and pieces up to 4000 tonnes in response to demand.
