Dry Bulks & other cargoes

Experience and facilities
ensure a quality service

Providing dry bulk, liquid and breakbulk cargo handling services has long been a mainstay of Port’s offering

The Port of Blyth is an important gateway for the movement of a range of cargoes in and out of northern UK locations with vital experience and modern equipment available.

Handling vessels up to 35,000 DWT, the port has an excellent reputation for quick turnaround of cargoes at 15,000+ tonnes per 24 hours, with a particular expertise in aggregates, agribulks, biomass and liquid bulks as well as breakbulk cargoes such as RDF.

SPECIALIST FACILITIES & SERVICES

Large secure areas of purpose built open storage are available with water spray dust suppression systems, concrete pads and bulk walling as appropriate. Additional services such as blending, screening, temperature monitoring etc can also be provided. For weather sensitive cargoes a complex of 10 modern dry bulk warehouses have been provided immediately behind the working quays with integrated bulk walling and some with additional facilities such as under floor aeration.

With the majority of cargoes passing through the Battleship Wharf terminal, vessel and terminal handling is also backed up with a modern bulk rail loading facility and an extensive array of handling equipment including bulk tippers, load shovels, dozers and bobcats.

The Port also operates a specialist terminal for finer dry bulks suitable for pneumatic discharge to silo with onward discharge to rail or road available.

MARINE FUELS

A marine fuels terminal opened at the Port’s Bates Terminal in 2015 in partnership with GEOS Group, a leading UK supplier of marine gas oil to vessel owners and operators in the shipping and offshore industries.
