MANDY RAIL STEAMS AHEAD WITH PLANS TO BECOME THE LATEST TENANT AT PORT OF BLYTH

19/07/2024

The Port of Blyth is pleased to announce the addition of Mandy Rail, a freight wagon repair and maintenance company, to its growing list of tenants.

In November 2019, Mandy Rail started with just two maintenance staff in Shincliffe, focusing on wagons for VTG, Touax, and GBRF. Now, with 28 employees in Ashington and Doncaster, the company has grown and offers maintenance services for wagons owned by Touax, VTG, GBRf, Ermewa, Freightliner, and DRS.

Battleship Wharf is the ideal location for Mandy Rail, offering a secure site with convenient road and rail connections. The rail facility offers fast access to and from the UK freight railway network with provision for trains up to 420m in length. Mandy Rail will enhance the Port of Blyth’s existing services by offering accessible maintenance and repair solutions for rail wagon operators in the North East of England and beyond.

Alasdair Kerr, Commercial Director at the Port of Blyth, said: “It’s fantastic to welcome Mandy Rail to our Battleship Wharf Terminal. Mandy Rail’s expertise in freight wagon repair and maintenance not only enhances the Port’s service offerings but reinforces our dedication to providing comprehensive solutions for our clients.”

Mark Hedley, Joint Managing Director of Mandy Rail, commented: “Mandy Rail are delighted to announce an exciting partnership with the Port of Blyth. The Port has supported us in transitioning to our new site seamlessly with their flexible and service-orientated approach. This collaboration marks the beginning of what promises to be a long and successful partnership.”
