Northumbria University & Port Partnership Kicks Off

Northumbria University visit

A new partnership between Northumbria University and Port of Blyth has been launched – taking the number of leading North East further education organisations currently working with the Port to three.

Following on from the launch of the Blyth Education and Community Hub – which saw both Newcastle University and Northumberland College cement their relationships with the Port – Northumbria University’s Geography Department will now make regular visits to Blyth in order to support undergraduate study into physical and human geography, health & safety and environmental science & management.

It is hoped this will be just the beginning for the partnership – with potential for further engagement through environmental monitoring activities, student placements and dissertation projects based at Port of Blyth.

The Blyth Education and Community Hub development is home to Northumberland College’s landmark renewable energy related training course – one of the only courses of its type available in the UK – and Newcastle University’s brand new, state-of-the-art research facilities.
