As the Port of Blyth celebrates 25 years at the forefront of offshore wind, it is once again turning its energy towards supporting the local community this festive season, launching its 2025 Christmas Appeal in aid of Blyth Foodbank and Operation Elf, aiming to bring vital support and festive cheer to families and individuals across Blyth.
Working with Energy Central partners around the Blyth Estuary, the Port is creating a wave of generosity to help meet growing demand at the foodbank and spread joy to local children through gift-giving.
Blyth Foodbank continues to experience a sharp rise in demand. Since opening its doors in 2015, the organisation has supported thousands of local residents, with numbers increasing year on year. To date in 2025, the foodbank has supported more than 3,100 people — a figure expected to rise further this winter. To help meet this need, Port employees will once again be volunteering their time throughout December to sort donations and pack parcels for distribution.
Alongside supporting the foodbank, the Port is proud to back Operation Elf, a local initiative collecting Christmas gifts for children in need across Blyth. The Port will serve as a central donation hub, encouraging businesses and individuals to donate new, unwrapped gifts that will be carefully matched to children, helping spread the magic of Christmas to as many families as possible.
