Instructor/Assessor

Port Training Services (PTS) are looking to add new instructor/assessors to their team here in Blyth.

PTS, the training division of the Port of Blyth, are a specialist training provider delivering fully accredited, industry recognised qualifications for companies and individuals serving the Port & Marine, Warehousing & Logistics, Heavy Industry, Subsea and Offshore Energy sectors.

The Role:

To deliver and develop the PTS portfolio of products and services from our training centre in Blyth and client locations across the UK. Services include the delivery of short courses, to being assigned as a dedicated assessor to our apprentice learners based with our clients across the UK.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Actively deliver training programmes onsite at PTS premises in Blyth and offsite at client premises (for example, plant courses such as forklift truck training).
  • Ensure the correct equipment, personnel and facilities are available for each programme/course and are always maintained to the highest standard.
  • Assist in managing relationships with external accrediting bodies.
  • Ensure H&S is always maintained to the highest level.
  • Work to continuously improve the services of PTS.
  • Work closely with the management team to develop and introduce new products as required.
  • Assist in maintaining and achieving industry accreditations.
  • Provide a high-quality service to all customers.
  • Able to maintain relationships with external/internal customers and suppliers.
  • Work effectively with the PTS administration team to ensure all programme administration is managed effectively and efficiently.

Skills Requirements:

Essential:

  • Proven industrial track record (ports, heavy industry)
  • Proven instructor background.
  • Relevant Instructor/assessor Qualifications (RTITB, NPORS, Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, Level 3 in Education & Training). For the right candidate support can be provided to achieve these qualifications.
  • Full DBS check (one will be provided if you don’t have one)
  • Travel and overnight stays across the UK (when required)
  • Full Driving License

Desirable:

  • Operational Port experience
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • NPORS qualified instructor.
