50 Years of Dedication as Port Thanks Two Long Servants

18/12/2020

Port of Blyth has celebrated the dedication of two outstanding contributors to its recent history today, as 50 years of service was marked during a socially distanced ceremony.

Watchkeeper Gary Rutherford (pictured above) and Stevedore Supervisor George Calder (pictured right) were the recipients of a very special thank you – and a gift from the Port of Blyth – in recognition of their 25 years service each.

Chief Executive Martin Lawlor was hand to congratulate both Gary and George and said: “Reaching twenty five years service is a great milestone and we’d like to place on record our sincere thanks to Gary and George for their commitment over the years.

“Perhaps more than any other year, the value of our staff has been particuarly visible in 2020 through their energy and dedication during a global pandemic. Along with all our staff, we wish George and Gary a very Merry Christmas and thank them for all their efforts in 2020.”
